Wednesday evening, in Kansas City, the Chiefs were wrapping up their Super Bowl parade when a shooter opened fire upon a crowd of people. At least one person died in the shooting, a woman by the name of Lisa-Lopez Galvan.“We are absolutely devastated at the loss of such an amazing person who gave so much to KKFI and the KC community,” Said one of Lisa’s coworkers, Kelly Doughtery. Around 22 others were injured in the disaster. Lisa was a well respected radio DJ on the Kansas City radio. On February 24th, hundreds gathered to mourn over the loss of Lisa-Lopez Galvin. People gathered in chiefs jerseys in front of a catholic church and shared their stories with Lisa, she will most definitely be missed by all close to her.

“Parades, rallies, schools, movies. It seems like almost nothing is safe,” says the Mayor of Kansas city, Quintin Lucas. Although 3 were detained, the public is still unaware of the names of the individuals. Some reports say that the bystanders tackled one of the shooters. This was most likely a major clue in deciding who the shooter was. Latest reports state that two teens were arrested for the shooting charges.

Lyndell Mayes was the name of one of the shooters. Lyndell was on probation for pulling out a gun at a basketball game for about 2 years, earlier this month, he was released. Another suspect, Dominic Miller was also arrested for second degree murder and other counts. The shooters were reportedly wearing red jumpsuits. Lyndell was seen in handcuffs and foot shackles after the shooting. Mayes told a judge that he had a lawyer, although none were present. Prosecutor Jean Peters Baker said that he had nothing to do with Miller or Mayes.

Not to worry though, all Chiefs players, coaches, and staff were completely fine. The Chiefs said in a recent statement that,”We are truly saddened by the senseless act of violence that occurred outside of Union Station at the conclusion of today’s parade and rally. Our hearts go out to the victims, their families and all of Kansas City.” The Chiefs trainer, Rick Burkholder said that he was with coach Andy Reid and the staff on a bus returning to the Chiefs home stadium, Arrowhead.

A GoFundMe was set up by the family of Lisa-Lopez Galvin. Taylor Swift, a world renowned pop star and girlfriend of Chiefs tight end, Travis Kelce, donated 100,000 dollars to the GoFundMe early Friday morning. Lisa’s memorial page was set up with the money. While the goal was only about 75,000 dollars, when the news broke that Taylor Swift donated, hundreds of more donations piled in. In conclusion, please keep these individuals in your hearts as you go through your day.
