Top 6 best IU women's 🏀Players

Imagine playing basketball for your favorite college basketball team, that would be the best feeling ever. What college would you want to play for? The IU women's basketball team has a record of  27/3, 27 wins and 3 losses. They are ranked 1st place in the NCAA Tournament for the Greenville 2 sectional. We’ve played 2 of the games in the big ten tournament and won against Michigan State and they lost against Ohio State. They won their 1st round game against Tennessee Tech 77-47 for their tournament. Unfortunately, they were out of the tournament after their 2nd round game against Miami.  They lost 70-68 on March 20th. ( The ranking is based on the website iuhoosiers.com and the points of their whole season from the website.) 



Mackenzie Holmes #54

First, we have Mackenzie Holmes ranked number one for the team. Holmes is one of their forwards. Mackenzie is a senior and is 6’3. Holmes has scored 670 points all season, that is a lot of points to score! Mackenzie's highest points in a game is 33 points per game. Macy Williams says, “Mackenzie Holmes almost gets half of their shots and is their best setter and if they didn’t have her on the team they would probably be screwed.” Mackenzie makes the most baskets in a game. Holmes has a knee injury and didn’t play in the Tennessee Tech game. Hopefully it gets better before their next game. 



 Sydney Parrish #33

Sydney Parrish is the second best on the team, with 381 points this season. Sydney is 6’2 and plays a guard. Parrish is in her junior year of college. The most points that she has scored in a game is 24 when she played against North Carolina. Sydney has been playing her high school basketball at Hamilton Southeastern. She won the 2020 IndyStar Miss Basketball. IU recruited her, but Parrish chose Oregon, where she played two seasons for the Ducks before opting for the transfer portal. Maddie Neal says, “ I like Sydney because she wears my favorite number 33. She is good because she's just good and she is pretty while doing it.” Maddie Neal’s famous quote, “ if the world was ending I would take a box of cinnamon toast crunch!” 



Yarden Garzon #12

Third, we have Yarden Gorzon with 345 points this season. Yarden plays guard and is 6’3 ft, she is in her freshman year of college. She also averages 14 points per game, 5 rebounds, 3 assists, and 2 steals. She is from Israel. The name of her hometown is Ra’anana. Yarden also played in the Israel Senior National Team at the EuroBasket 2023 qualifiers in November 2021. She also has a sister named Lior Garzon that plays college basketball in Oklahoma For Villanova University. Lior is 6’1 and a sophomore in college, and she averages 8 points per game. - quote  Kyvlynn Shipley says, “ She is good at basketball and she does good layups, and she is really pretty.” 



Sara Scalia #14

Sara Scalia is the fourth best player on the team. She is a 5’10 senior. Sara is a Guard. Her hometown is Stillwater, Minnesota. Sara played her first three years at the University of Minnesota before transferring to Indiana University. Sara made the most 3 point shots out of the top seven players on the team during the Ohio State game.  She made 6, 3 point shots.  She also scored a total of 24 points in the game against Ohio State. Sara also made 8 out of 8 free throws when they played Michigan State. Kyvlynn Shipley says, “ I like Sara because she is good at 3s and is really pretty. She also has my favorite number 14.” 



Chloe Moore-McNeil #22 

Fifth, we have Chloe Moore-McNeil. She is 5 '11 in her junior year. She is originally from Sharon, Tennessee. Chloe is a Guard and the highest points she has scored is 15 points in one game. Chloe had 10 rebounds vs Purdue on 2/6/22. When Chloe was playing Michigan State, she got 12 free throws and made 10. She also had 11 assists during the Michigan State game, which really shows she is a great team player. Kaylynn Cross said, “I like Chloe because she makes good passes, she is shifty, and shoots good 3’s.” 



Grace Berger #34

Second, we have Grace Berger. This is her last year playing, because she is a graduate student. She is a guard, her height is 6 ft which makes her perfect for being a guard. She scored 293 points so far this season. Her highest amount of points scored in a game is 26. She started in all 33 games this season. Anderson Georges says, “ I like Grace because she shoots good 3s.” 



These are all amazing players and great people. Mackenzie Holmes, Sydney Parrish, Yardden Garzon, Sara Scalia, Chloe Moore- McNeil, and Grace Berger are the best players on the IU Women’s Basketball team, they are all very talented basketball players. Their amazing playing skills and good attitude towards basketball is why they are #1 in women's college basketball.
