The Nets Biggest Trade, But Was It a Good Idea?

If you ever heard of the NBA you know that sometimes NBA teams make questionable choices and do things that make us all mad, but today we are going to talk about the The Nets decision to trade their star players for 1st round picks in the next year's draft.

The first thing we're going to talk about is the Nets' decision to trade Kyrie Irving. The Nets traded Kyrie to the Dallas Mavericks on Feb 6 for Spencer Dinwiddie, Dorian Finney-Smith and a couple of future draft picks. I think this decision was a pretty bad one because Kyrie was one of the best players in the league in my opinion, and he was also one of the best players on the nets. He averaged 27.1 PPG with a whopping 39.1 3 point percentage.

The second thing I'm going to talk about is The Nets' choice to trade Kevin Durant. The Nets traded Kevin Durant to the Suns for Mikal Bridges, Cam Johnson, Jae Crowder, and as well, a couple of future first round picks. I think this decision was  also pretty bad because Kevin Durant was 1 of the 2 Nets star players, (The other being Kyrie.) Let's review Kevin's stats. He averaged 29 points a game and a mind blowing 3 point percentage of 38.4. I interviewed Drew Figg about how he thought about the Kevin Durant trade and he said “I think it was a good decision because I believe it is best for Kevin Durant's career.”

Overall  I think the Nets decision to trade Kyrie and Kevin was a very impactful decision to the NBA, and could create many opportunities for different things to happen. When I asked students from EJHS how they felt about these trades they said “I think they could have won a championship if they did not trade them.”said sixth grader Brody Day. From another sixth grader, Kendall Robinson, said “I think it was a dumb decision because they were really good contributions to their team.”- Kendall Robinson
