NCAA March Madness 2023

The NCAA March Madness tournament is a big tournament where all of the Division 1 schools play in a tournament to see who is the true champ. You can go online and fill out the bracket and who you think will win. Every year there is an app called ESPN tournament challenge. My family fills out our own bracket, they give the winner (whoever gets all of the games predicted right), $250,000. Anyway, the tournament is really fun to watch.

Now, the tournament. So I am first going to talk about the first rounds. All of the 1 seeds won, besides Purdue. Purdue lost to a 16 seed FDU (Fairleigh Dickinson University.) This game was surprising to me and that game made history. That is only the second time in NCAA history that a 16 seed had beat a 1 seed in March Madness. There was a game winner that FAU hit against Verginia. JP Pegues hit the 3 to put FAU up by one with 2.4 seconds left. After the shot Verginia didn't have enough time to get down the floor and score. Also, a 2 seeded Arazona falls to a 15 seed Princeton. The last thing I am going to talk about in the first round is our Indiana Hoosiers. Indiana beat Kent State 71-60. The Hoosiers move on to the second round.

Now onto the second round. The 1 seed Alabama defeated The Maryland Terrapins 73-51. Michigan State had a 69-60 upset win vs Marquette. After a surprising win over a 2 seed Arizona, the Princeton Tigers won in the round of 32 vs Missouri in an upset win. They move on to face Creighton. In the sweet 16. Our Indiana Hoosiers lost in the second round to the Miami Hurricanes in a stunning game with a score of 85-69. I hope Indiana can do better next year.

On to the sweet 16. Miami Hurricanes beat the Texas Longhorns with a score of 88-81. That game was a surprising upset to many people. The next game was San Diego St. against Creighton. Coming into this game San Diego St. was a 5 seed and Creighton was a 6 seed. This was a close game and ended with a score of 57-56 with San Diego St. winning. So far in the final four we have Miami and San Diego St. Let's get to the other games. FAU vs Kansas St. FAU being a 9 seed and Kansas St. being a 3 seed. Looking at the seeds, you would think that Kansas state would win, right? Well, that wasn't all that true. FAU ended up winning by three points with a score of 79-76. Next, there was Uconn vs the Gonzaga Bulldogs. Gonzaga is a 3 seed and Uconn is a 4 seed. Uconn moved on to the Final Four with the game being 82-52 in Uconn's favor.

Now our Final Four is set. San Diego St. vs FAU and Miami vs Uconn. So far this year, the tournament has been super surprising. Read Colts Chronicles soon to find out what happened next in the NCAA March Madness tournament.
