EJHS wrestling Meet 2/9/23

The EJHS had a wrestling match last Thursday. And we ended up winning the home match. The first match was Lucas. He wrestled at around the 100 weight class, he has been wrestling for about 5 years, his friends say. As you would probably imagine it went pretty fast. First, they get in a collar tie, and that gets him down pretty quick, and then pretty much immediately goes for a cradle, and somehow gets pinned.

Next, we have Jack's match, and this one is a little bit longer. First, they have an interesting scrimmage. The oppontent ends up tripping Jack to his stomach and almost pins him but he doesn't. Jack gets out of it, but he's in refs (referee position) and he even gets up but, gets mat returned. He almost gets up but, gets mat-returned again. The opponent tries to go for a cradle but that is the end of the first quarter the other opponent gets him down. Jack almost gets pinned but he overpowers it again and goes for an outside stand-up, he almost gets out and after being in a single leg for about 10 seconds the ref calls the other kid for holding. Jack ends up almost getting pinned. That was the end of the second quarter. Jack chooses top and the other opponent gets bottom. He almost immediately gets up and takes Jack down. He eventually almost gets pinned for about the fifth time. The other opponent won off of points but, at least Jack didn't give up the pin.

For the last match I will go over, they will be inters-quad matches. The students wrestling are Braden C. and Brayden S. Braden C. ends up getting Brayden S.Ā  in refs. Brayden C. gets Brayden S. in the side headlock then Braden C. lets go. This causes Brayden S. to be on top of Braden C. He ends up turning the tables, almost pinning Brayden S. But he gets saved by the bell. Brayden S. chooses neutral Braden C. ends up taking down Brayden S. with a side headlock, but he gets out of it. He ends up on top but he lets go and Brayden S. gets out. Braden C. ends up tackling him down onto his Stomach and eventually, Brayden C gets the pin.Ā

After the meet, I interviewed Jack G. and this is what he had to say, ā€œas a team we did pretty good. We won by around 30 points. I'll take that as a win. We seemed pretty solid all around, but some people had some bad matches. We can work on itā€. overall I agree and I think that Jack summarised it pretty well.
