Have you met the wonderful sixth grade teacher Mr. Norris? He is always so positive. He is always giving out fistbumps and is just so cheerful and happy. Mr. Norris has been an assistant principal at EIS and is now teaching 6th grade math.

Mr. Norris is a teacher here at EJHS, he has a degree in elementary school education. He started to think about being a teacher in high school because of his Social Studies teacher. He is in his 24th year of teaching, not all of those years being at EJHS. Mr. Norris said, “This building is really special to me.” referring to EJHS.

Mr. Norris just recently started to run marathons, he has run half marathons before this year however he ran his first full marathon. He started to run them because he had always wanted to run one before he was 50. Another reason was that another Cross Country coach said she was going to run a marathon and then he replied with, “Me too.”  Mr. Norris does other things at the school like coaching the Edgewood Cross Country team and boys 7th grade basketball team. He started to coach Cross Country because he enjoys running and feels like Edgewood has a good Cross Country program. He coached basketball because he had coached it before and the other coaches asked if he could help again. Mr. Norris likes to coach and help students that will compete in sports in High School. He also enjoys doing many activities with his family. He stated “We love to hike, we love to cook, we love to travel and we really enjoy playing games.” He said they love to play games on hikes and while they travel.  He has traveled out of the United States before, that was before he had kids. Mr. Norris has taken cooking lessons but he also cooks at home too. His family has many outdoor cooking ovens and stoves that they enjoy using.

He has many students that enjoy him including Cameron Sessions saying, “Mr. Norris is a very good teacher, and is nice, funny and helpful.” Another student of his is Xavier Hawkins, he said “I like how he can be fun and joking but also be serious and teach.” Kelly Donahue also said, “ Mr. Norris is kind and he knows exactly what to say when you need to be lifted up.”  Overall Mr. Norris is really nice.
