LESSON TROUBLE
Both tutors and students might encounter troubles during their lessons which might affect the overall lesson experience. To ensure the standard quality of lessons, these issues must be checked and set to a minimum.
To receive and assess the different troubles experienced by tutors and students, RareJob has put in place a system called the Automated Lesson Trouble Report (ALTR). This system allows both tutors and students to report lessons where troubles occurred, matches the reports from both ends, and sends the judgment of the matching to the staff for evaluation.
GENERAL RULE: Tutors must respond to the Lesson Trouble Reports (LTRs) filed by their students within twenty-four (24) hours after the lesson time to avoid incurring 204s (See Operational Quality: II. RareJob Slots and Codes).
⦿ Going to the Tutoring Notes page of the student and clicking the Trouble Report button, or
⦿ By viewing the notifications area of the homepage and clicking Pending Trouble Reports.
Remember that tutors must never directly confront their students regarding LTRs. RareJob staff will mediate for both ends after the automated system’s processing.
Below are the types of LTRs that tutors can report through the system:
This report documents that the student was not able to respond in time for the lesson. This is available only from the first (1st) to the tenth (10th) minute of the lesson time, so tutors are advised to file this report around two (2) to three (3) minutes after the lesson start time.
This report documents that the lesson was not completed according to the allotted time (25 minutes, 50 minutes, etc.). You must choose either of the two (2) categories, depending on how much time was consumed for the lesson:
a. Less than ten (10) minutes
b. Over ten (10) minutes
After choosing the lesson duration, choose from the preset reasons to include information about what kind of trouble you encountered during the lesson:
a. Connection Trouble
b. Sound/Skype Trouble
c. PC Hardware/Accessories Difficulty
d. Emergency/Sickness
e. Blackout
f. Student Matters
It is important to observe utmost honesty in filing and responding to LTRs to avoid problems during the system’s matching of both reports from the student and the tutor. If the system finds mismatching reports, a Lesson Trouble Count (LTC) will be recorded in the tutor’s metrics. The tutor will be informed via email of their LTC status two (2) days after the reported lesson.
