OGSM stands for Objective, Goals, Strategies, Measures. We use OGSM to focus what we each are working on to make sure they are helping us acheive our larger goals. This break down helps us know that the small tasks we complete are moving us forward toward our objectives. Each employee should be spending 90% of their time on their OGSM initaitives. Initatives are updated every quarter.
Objective: Lofty, longterm
Goals (2 years): What financially we want to accomplish in the next 2 years (lofty)
Strategies (1 year): Taking context of objective and goals, what 4-5 things we will pursue in next year (we know that if we pursue these, we will meet our goals)
Initiatives (3m-1yr): all of the strategies are broken down into initiatives aka what we do in the day to day
Measures (define the day to day): How to know when the strategy is complete. How do we identify if we accomplished/what we accomplished. How do we know when to celebrate?
