Cannot share screen in Google Meet on a MacBook

If your student/child cannot share their screen in Google Meet on a MacBook, please follow the directions below.

There are two possible dialogue windows that will open to allow the student MacBook to share their screen. Find the option that appears for you.

  1. You may see the message "Can't Share your Screen.... Open System Preferences".

Follow the red markings on the three images below to complete the prompts

Then select LATER at the last prompt.

Return to the Google Meet tab and try to share your screen again.

If the share is still unsuccessful, just Quit Chrome and relaunch Chrome, join the Meet and share again..


2. You may see : Google Chrome would like to record this computer's screen. Open System Preferences.

If you do not see the dialog above or you are unable to screen share, manually open System Preferences, click the "Security and Privacy" icon and then choose "Screen Recording" in the sidebar.

2. In the Screen Recording section click the box next to Google Chrome to allow screen sharing for your Google Meet video calls.

Next, click "Quit Now".

Go back and share your screen again. If this does not work, please Quit Chrome and restart.
