English and Rhetoric Department accolades
Gabriel Smith and Lisa Teitler--While this dynamic duo is being recognized as a team, it is important to share that individually they make the English and Rhetoric department proud. Each goes above and beyond to foster a classroom that is all about community, learning, and success. They each put their own spins on the classes they teach whether offering presence and feedforward that helps students evolve, dynamic classroom tools to engage, empathy that helps students feel heard, or a combination of all these things. As a duo, they have been collaborating on helping new faculty adapt and feel confident in delivering 107 and 220 module courses. They also have been working on module material that will go onto a module Google site in hopes of making modules accessible and dynamic for all who teach them. Keep up the great work, Gabriel and Lisa!
Jordan Burr--He is a new faculty member to PG who has hit the ground running! Jordan shines in many ways he works to support and his students from being exceedingly active on the discussion boards to the encouraging and personalized feedback he provides. Where he really gets students engaged and excited about writing is in his seminars. Jordan brings in humor and uses examples that most can connect with. In a recent seminar, he also spent time on a ChatGBT demonstration and discussion where he spent important time showing students how AI can be a great tool but must be used responsibly. Keep up the great work, Jordan!
Timaree Marston--She is a new faculty member to PG but is clearly a pro! In her second term with PG, Timaree navigated the fallout from severe California snowstorms with style and grace. If anyone could pop into her classes last term to see the high level of dedication and commitment to her students by looking at her detailed, thoughtful, and purposeful feedback, or that she held seminar from random places to make sure her students had what they needed. They would never know that she was dealing with several feet of snow, power outages, and more! Keep up the great work, Timaree!
