All students and families should check the Course Google Classroom Page. All assignments will be posted to the Course Google Classroom Page on a daily basis.
Each Quarter Grade is comprised of:
-70% Achievement Assignments,
-20% Classwork Assignments
-10% Preparation (HW) Assignments
Each Quarter makes up 40% of the Semester Final Grade and each Semester ends with a Final
Project/Exam that counts for 20% of the Semester Final Grade
Achievement Assignments are comprised of :
Complex Claim, Extended Paragraph, and Essay Writing Tasks
Student Led Presentations
Graded Accountable Academic Discussions
Research and or/Creative Assignments
Semester Final Exams and/or Project
Students must earn a 65 or higher on AT LEAST 1 History Regents Exam, either Global History or US History
All students MUST sit for the Global History Regents Exam at end of 10th Grade
Whether or not students sit for and are required to pass the US History Regents Exam will depend on their Regents Standing by their 11th and/or 12th Grade Year
All Students who attend Brooklyn Prospect High School will take IB HL History Year 1, History of the Americas in 11th grade. All who have chosen to pursue the full IB Diploma, must also take IB HL History Year 2 in 12th grade. IB HL History Year 2 will be optional in 12th Grade for those who are not pursuing the full IB Diploma.
All students who take both years of the IB HL History Course will sit for the IB HL History Exam in May of their 12th Grade Year. Students must also have completed their IB Internal Assessment for History in the fall of their 12th Grade Year.
The IB HL History Exam consists of 3 Papers and has the students complete: Source Analysis Tasks and 5 Essays based on content students study in the Two Year Course.
The IB Internal Assessment for History consists of students: Developing their Own Original Research Question about a Historical Topic of their Choice and completing a 2,200 Word Research Task that includes a Source Analysis Section, Essay Section, Reflection Section, and a Works Cited Page.
