Senior Lecturer in Learning Design (AcDev)

Maria is a Senior Lecturer in Learning Design leading on the learning design activities conducted as part of the implementation of the Digital Success Plan for Learning and Teaching through creative team- and evidence-based approaches to learning design and pedagogic innovation. Maria provides a reference point for the entire learning design team, both centrally and in the faculties, across modes of study, and leads on capacity building initiatives in learning design, such as the training and development of new enABLe facilitators. Maria plays a lead role in the university-wide deployment of the enABLe process, the University's framework for team-based curriculum design.

As a Senior Fellow of the HEA, Maria supports staff development through the design, development and delivery of new credit-bearing L7 professional development modules such as 'Teach Well: Principles to Practice', designed to take colleagues on a pedagogical journey through three pillars of practice for teaching well in higher education. Maria also supports staff development through mentoring and assessing HEA applications via the APEX programme. 

Maria has a passion and commitment for the student experience and has research interests in learning design to enhance retention, progression and achievement.

Maria is a Senior Fellow of the HEA, has a MSc in Applied AI and Data Science and facilitates Lego Serious Play.
