Catherine arrived at the University in May 2020 and brings with her significant experience of leadership in Higher Education (HE) and advanced knowledge in the discipline of social work having enjoyed a successful career in a variety of settings before moving into academia. As a social worker with experience in a variety of senior leadership and quality assurance roles Catherine has spent much of her time championing social justice, promoting equality, inclusion and celebrating diversity.
In HE Catherine has been responsible for the education of trainee Social Workers and led a range of enhancement agendas both strategically in curriculum development, and organisationally in the support and management of successful quality assurance mechanisms. These include metrics that can capture a wider range of students successes, a range of social and pedagogical enhancements to the student journey, and the development of student led campaigns to increase social engagement and promote cohesion among the student body.
Catherine is a Senior Fellow and brings to this role a variety of professional training including mediation, conflict resolution, coaching, counselling and project management .

Creating Brave Learning Spaces in which to champion social justice, promote connection, belonging and growth.
Ensuing that teaching and learning is accessible, and inclusive for all students.
Critically evaluating curricula with a focus on decolonising course contents.
