Welcome to our CPD resources on Enhancing Student Engagement at the University of Portsmouth.

A focus upon student engagement in higher education is a long-standing practice as a means for enhancement in UK Higher Education. Providing an engaging higher education experience is a core theme across Academic Development and these sessions will also expand further on the key theories and agendas around student engagement to give colleagues a road map for developing student engagement in your context. These sessions will offer a foundation of understanding of student engagement and multiple top tips for enhancing student engagement in your academic or service context. Further sessions will draw on literature to explore measuring student engagement, and several best practices on a variety of approaches to engage the student voice and practice co-design.

Please use the links to explore the Principles to Practice CPD sessions as well as the supporting resources that include relevant publications, guidance notes, reading lists, and links to presentations from previous mini-fests.

The Principles to Practice programme consists of:

Session 1: Introduction to Student Engagement in Higher Education

Session 2: Meaningful Student Voice & Co-Designing with Student Academic Representatives.

Session 3: Exploring Student Attendance and Retention in Higher Education

Staff are welcome to attend any session but it is strongly advised that Session 1 is attended first as an introduction, after which session 2 and 3 can be completed in any order.
