Dear First Grade Friends,

Today is the 156th day of school and the 38th day of distance learning. Each one of you has done an amazing job learning from home. We hope you all are enjoying the social groups and seeing your classmates weekly. We are enjoying talking with you through google meets too. Perhaps today you can play the math game 'Go to the Bank' with a family member. Remember to do your best today and know your teachers are proud of you!

Mr. Putter and Tabby Drop the Ball Read Aloud

We have used this Mr. Putter and Tabby book as our mentor text for the past few lessons. Today you can enjoy a read aloud of the whole book! Press the play button to get started.

When you are done listening, you can independently read your books at home or on RAZ kids.

Writing

I can make my characters talk in many ways, just like in real life.

When you add dialogue and show what your characters are saying.....try to use words other than 'said'!

**Each day when you write, you may add on to a story you are working on OR start a new story OR go back and revise a story you have written. You should have at least 3 different realistic fiction stories you worked on by the end of May. **

You will need your 10 syllable cards and the Syllable Match & Memory Game from the Resource tab (5/11-5/15) for today's lesson.

Assignment: Today you will work with Ms. Pascucci on a syllable warm-up. We will tap or clap and say the syllables. We can count how many syllables these words have.

Assignment: Today you will spell multisyllabic words by clapping or tapping out each syllable. Then, scoop the syllables together to make the whole word.
