Good Morning, First Graders!
Happy Monday! We hope you enjoy this week with new teaching videos and choice menus! You will learn about vowel teams, begin fractions by making equal parts, and continue very important reading and writing work! Remember to take breaks when you need them and also get outside for some fresh air this week!
Sincerely,

When we read books we love, we want to share them with others. Today I am going to start teaching you how to write a book review.
You are going to learn how to write an introduction to a book review.
Student Book Review Introduction Example:
If You Give a Mouse a Cookie
This story is about a mouse and a boy. The mouse wanted everything. First he wants a cookie then he wants milk. Next, the mouse wants a straw to drink the milk. The mouse wants to trim his whiskers and asks for nail clippers. The boy gets those for him too! The boy is feeling exhausted because he has to run back and forth to get everything for the mouse. I think this is a funny book to read. Will the boy continue to help the mouse?
Off you go! Using all that you already know about writing reviews, write the introduction to your very 1st book review.
Don’t forget all of the great strategies we’ve learned so far.
Today you will be interacting with a first grade teacher to read words that contain oi and oy.
You will see the teacher on the lower right side of your screen.

As optional practice try the reteaching worksheet from today's lesson. Either print it out or enlarge the image by clicking on the link below. You can also write down your answers in a notebook or any paper you have handy. You can even record or send us a picture of the optional work you've done. It's a great way to build your fraction skills!
