Netflix’s new hit series, Squid Game, is a show about people being forced to play children's games for money. But there is a twist; if you lose you get killed.

So why would someone want to watch a series so gory and dark? They take simple games like red light, green light and make it deadly, or marbles, and if you lose you get killed. So what was the big sensation about this?

NBC said, “Flix Patrol, a website that tracks streaming statistics for the top platforms in the world, reported that ‘Squid Games’ is the No. 1 show in dozens of countries, including the U.S., the United Kingdom, and South Korea.”

“Squid Game” is unique to anything that has ever been made before. There has never been a series based around the idea of people being forced to play in deadly children's games for money.

Another reason why it was such a big hit was that it was produced in South Korea, however, Netflix offers subtitles in 37 languages and dubs in 34 languages. This helped to make the show available for those who don't speak Korean which opened up a whole new audience.

There have been trends that have been influenced by “Squid Game” such as the “dalgona” challenge where players need to cut out a certain shape made out of honeycomb toffee without it breaking. Hundreds of people on social media are trying this trend and posting it.

The Robotic girl from the red light, green light game has become a meme. The audio of her saying red light, green light has been used on more than 420,000 videos.

So why do you think “Squid Game” was so good?
