The Pewaukee fan camp was destined to be the social event of the season. With all of the intriguing factors like: free pizza, student athlete guest appearances, and the opportunity to learn authentic pirate cheers, the fan camp had a world of potential.
The fan camp took place Wednesday, November 3. Administrators had expectations of a monstrous turn out because the entirety of Pewaukee high school was sent multiple reminder emails. Their confidence in the event was so high that Mr. Behrens even spent $780 on ‘Pirate Nation’ shirts.
Unfortunately, the voluntary student attendance total was 15. A real statistic taken from the event is ⅕ of the audience was apart of the Terrain family. Students who attended the event were in such shock that they turned to comedy as a coping mechanism. Senior, Avalon Gerdman, even jokingly said to Mr.Bursi, “Great turn out,”
Such a disastrous outcome left many puzzled with how something could go so wrong. When asking Senora Gerdman she stated, “ Ya, I wish more students could have gone. I think they even tailored the timing around the football schedule,” Sadly, not a single football player was seen at the event.
All in all, Wednesday wasn’t quite what Pirate Nation expected. However, this isn’t the end of the fan camp. Administration has big dreams for us as a student section, and next year the camp is rumored to be even bigger and better.
