Cancel culture

Cancel culture has completely taken over. To the point where our president wasn’t able to use Twitter. This culture essentially comes from people looking to silence those who they don’t agree with by shaming them publicly and excluding them from society. The very worst consequences include loss of all friends and social connections, being fired from your job, or even the denial of your social platforms. I believe that canceled culture has completely gone too far, and completely goes against what humans stand for. Nobody is perfect, so why do we expect celebrities to be? Some things may never be forgotten, but we together can learn how to forgive and bring out the best in people.

Most recently the President of Barstool, Dave Portnoy has received the wrath of cancel culture. Which he said has been coming at him constantly over the years. Which has been proven to be extremely misleading, making Portnoy look like a sexual predator. When the women themselves have spoken up and said he has done nothing wrong. Portnoy goes on to say, “ This reporter had an agenda, it’s scary and sad that this is the world we live in.” People should have to live their life constantly fearing getting cancelled.

At what point do we decide this has gone too far? Should people be able to destroy someone's life over things that were said many years back? Or should we be more forgiving as a society? While there are things said that are worse than others, no one on this planet is perfect. So why do we expect those with a following to be perfect their entire lives? Has cancel culture done more harm than good?
