Bread
A sturdy foundation
Just like cement
No matter the type, it holds true
Mayo
A mirage in an open desert
You crawl towards it
hoping to cease your drought
and it delivers
Bacon
A perfect balance
Of hard and soft
A small crunch
in a bite of silk
Cheese
Years of preparation
to be cultivated to perfection
A flavor so rich
It’s worth over 1 million
Ham
A main ingredient
Juicy and tender
It never disappoints
Bread
The opening sequence and the ending credits
It’s just like life
No matter which way you look at it
the bread always comes first
This poem was written by aspiring up and coming writer Jack Kinjerski. This piece is one of his best works as of late, and expresses his love for sandwiches and spending plenty of hours working on writing.
So, we asked him some questions to find out more about him and his work. He was inspired to create this poem by his sandwich making skills. Jack's writing process starts out quite simplistic as he “wanted to make it look like a sandwich.”
Jack’s writing inspiration comes from his favorite childhood book.
When asked if he has any idols he also states that he “Looks up to Aren Loya, true inspiration and without his guidance he would be no one.” -- wow, so humble.
Jack also believes that a big ego helps writing which is an interesting stance. He says, “A big ego helps tremendously if you think your writing is the best, it will be the best.”
Some sad news to hear is that Mr. Kinjerski’s family doesn't support his work, he tells us. “Some backlash when I told them that he wrote poems but you just gotta ignore the haters” wow.
We really appreciate Jack for giving his time for this interview and keeping an eye out for his latest work, Monkey.
