All New Mexico elementary school educators must score a minimum of 70% on both the Volume 1 and Volume 2 posttests to be considered in compliance with NMAC 6.30.17.11. (See the Structured Literacy Updates 2023-2024 SY Memo for the most recent requirements.)
In order to be eligible for Reading Endorsement, participants must score 80% on all end of unit assessments and volume posttests. By default, LETRS only allows participants to have one attempt on each volume posttest and two attempts on each unit assessment. LETRS is unable to allow additional retakes on the unit assessments.
If you scored below 80% on a volume posttest and would like to retake it, you need to have an active license and will need to complete the following form. Please note that participants are only allowed one retake request for a Volume Posttest--either Volume 1 or Volume 2--not both.
After you complete the form, Lexia and NMPED staff will review your LETRS coursework to determine whether or not your request will be approved. Please allow 1-2 weeks for a Lexia representative to contact you with a determination.

There are a number of reasons why a participant may be marked absent on the 3E or Admin. Tracker after attending a session. Below are some of the most common problems and their solutions:
Problem: If you attended a session but logged in with an email address other than the one with which you are registered in LETRS, your attendance will not be recorded. We track everything by participant email address, so if you accidentally logged into the Zoom or completed the sign-in or exit survey using a different email address, you will be marked as absent.
Solution: If you are in an ongoing or recently completed Phase, review the information on the Report a Discrepancy page. If your Phase ended more than three months ago, review the information on the Request a Records Review page.
Problem: If you attended a session but logged in with one email address and completed the exit survey with another email address, your attendance may not have been recorded accurately since we track everything by participant email address.
Solution: If you did not receive a Certificate of Attendance in this instance, please visit the Request a Certificate of Attendance page. After you have your Certificate of Attendance, complete either a Discrepancy Reporting Form or a Records Review Request for Reading Endorsement Eligibility Form as applicable.
Problem: If you attended a session but had to leave early or arrived late, you were probably marked as absent on the Eligibility Tracker. The expectation is that participants attend the entire 180 minute session in order to be considered present to ensure that participants do meet the 40 hours of live facilitated sessions required for reading endorsement eligibility.
Solution: You can complete the Discrepancy Reporting Form or a Records Review Request for Reading Endorsement Eligibility Form. NMPED staff will verify the amount of time you spent in the session. However, you will most likely need to attend a make-up session. Visit the Make-Up Facilitated Sessions page to see when your session is being offered. Be sure to register in advance as these sessions fill up quickly.
Problem: If you were a participant in a Phase that has now expired and you attend a make-up session, your attendance will not be updated monthly unless your Phase ended fewer than three months ago.
Solution: If your Phase ended more than three months ago and you now meet the eligibility requirements for Reading Endorsement, complete a Records Review Request for Reading Endorsement Eligibility Form.
There is no form for reporting discrepancies for participants whose Phases ended more than three months ago. Your attendance will only be updated if you submit a Records Review Request Form and you now meet the Reading Endorsement eligibility requirements.
There are a few reasons why you may not have received your Certificate of Attendance, including misspelling your email address or forgetting to submit an attendance sign-in or end of session survey. Please read through the following information for the solution that best pertains to your situation.
If you attended a Nationally Facilitated Session:
If you did not receive your Certificate of Attendance after attending a nationally facilitated session, please visit the Lexia LETRS Help Center: What do I do if I haven't received my Certificate of Attendance? page and follow the troubleshooting solutions there. If none apply, you will need to email Lexia to request your Certificate of Attendance as directed at the bottom of that page. Please allow up to two weeks to receive your certificate.
If you attended a Locally (District) Facilitated Session:
If you did not receive your Certificate of Attendance after attending a locally facilitated session, contact the session's facilitator to obtain your Certificate of Attendance. The facilitator will verify your attendance and follow a process for issuing your Certificate of Attendance.
You can find the facilitator's information on the Local Facilitator Directory.
Some school districts in New Mexico are working with local facilitators in their districts to organize and hold facilitated sessions for certain participants in the district. These are locally facilitated sessions.
Most participants in New Mexico attend nationally facilitated sessions that are organized and held by Lexia. These facilitators contract directly with Lexia and are not part of a NM district.
If you registered for your session through Swoogo, it is nationally facilitated. If you didn't, it's locally facilitated.
If you attend NATIONALLY facilitated sessions, the link to your facilitated session is in Swoogo. You need to register for the session first.
If you attend LOCALLY facilitated sessions, your facilitator or Course Manager will send you information regarding your session.

The LETRS Phase ends.
NMPED automatically reviews the records of all participants in the Phase after it ends to determine who has met the Reading Endorsement eligibility requirements.
NMPED sends Eligibility for Reading Endorsement Memos via email to all qualifying participants within three months after the end of the Phase.
Eligible participants who want to apply for a Reading Endorsement write Statements of Impact.
Eligible participants apply for Reading Endorsements through the NMPED Professional Licensure Portal. They will need both their Memo and their Statement of Impact to apply.
After an entire LETRS Phase has completed the two-year LETRS course, NMPED staff will automatically review each participant's record in the Phase to check for Reading Endorsement eligibility. Participants do not need to request this review. A LETRS Phase ends when the Phase's LETRS licenses expire. Each Phase's end date is listed on the FAQs and Quick Links page.
After a LETRS Phase ends, participants in that Phase should allow up to three months to receive their Eligibility for Reading Endorsement Memos if they meet the eligibility requirements.
After participants have attended the Unit 8 Part 2 session, they should check the NMPED's Eligibility Tracker to make sure that they have:
Attended 14 of the 16 facilitated sessions AND
Scored 80% or higher on all end of unit and volume posttest assessments AND
Logged at least 32 hours completing coursework in the LETRS platform
Failure to meet one or more of the requirements will disqualify a participant from Reading Endorsement eligibility. If a participant is in an ongoing or recently completed Phase and notices a discrepancy between their records and what is reported on the NMPED's Eligibility Tracker, the participant should complete a Discrepancy Reporting Form. If the Phase ended more than three months ago and the participant now meets the requirements for Reading Endorsement eligibility, the participant should complete a Records Review Request for Reading Endorsement Eligibility Form.
In addition to completing the LETRS coursework to meet the professional development requirements for Reading Endorsement eligibility, a participant must also submit a Statement of Impact that includes the instructional changes the educator made based on the educator's learning within the professional development. (See Rule NMAC 6.64.3.8 under Quick Links for more information.)
After receiving an Eligibility for Reading Endorsement Memo, a participant will need to apply for the reading endorsement to be added to her/his/their license.
To learn more about adding an endorsement to your license, please read this information from the NMPED Licensure Bureau: Adding an Endorsement to a License.
Then, visit the NMPED Professional Licensure Portal to apply for an endorsement. You will need your Eligibility for Reading Endorsement Memo and your Statement of Impact in order to apply.
All questions regarding adding an endorsement should be directed to the Licensure Bureau.
After a LETRS Phase ends, NMPED staff verify participant eligibility for reading endorsement. This process can take up to three months. Please allow three months after your phase ends to receive your Eligibility for Reading Endorsement Memo via email. If three months have not yet passed and you haven't received your memo, do not worry; just be patient.
If more than three months have passed after your phase ended and you would like us to review your record again because you now meet the requirements for Reading Endorsement eligibility, please complete the Records Review Request for Reading Endorsement Eligibility Form.
See "How do I add a Reading Endorsement to my license?" for more information.
Note: The Records Review Request Form is not a discrepancy reporting form for participants in expired Phases. It is a form to request an additional review of your record to see if you now meet the requirements for Reading Endorsement eligibility after you have completed more coursework, attended more sessions, or logged more time.
Important: If you have already received your Eligibility for Reading Endorsement Memo, you do not need to take any action to update the NMPED's Reading Endorsement Eligibility Tracker. We are only using this to track your progress toward reading endorsement eligibility, and if you've received your memo, you are eligible.
If you are in an ongoing or recently completed Phase and find a discrepancy between your records and the NMPED's records for anything completed prior to the current month, you should report that discrepancy using the Discrepancy Reporting Form.
After your request has been processed, you will receive an email notification with the outcome of your request.
Reminder: We update the Eligibility Tracker during the first week of each month with the previous month's facilitated session attendance, assessment scores, and time spent completing online coursework. Please do not report discrepancies for the current month or during the first week of a month for anything completed during the previous month.
If you are in a Phase that ended more than three months ago there isn't a way to report a discrepancy. You can, however, request an additional review of your record if you now meet the Reading Endorsement eligibility requirements.
Visit the Request a Records Review page for more information.
NMPED staff will review Discrepancy Reporting Form submissions.
After your request has been processed, you will receive an email notification with the outcome of your request.
