Participants: Phase 10-12 Cohort Schedules are posted! Please check ASAP and sign up for ALL of your sessions.
In October, you will receive an email from Lexia, support@lexialearning.com, letting you know that your LETRS account had been activated. This email included instructions for setting up your account on the LETRS platform. The link in that email is the same link given here. We're just providing it in case you lost the email.
You cannot begin your online LETRS coursework until your account has been activated.
After your account has been activated, if you fill out the form to set up your account and do not receive an automated email with your username and password, please contact your district or charter's LETRS Course Manager to ensure that your registration information was submitted correctly.
Tip: The email address associated with your LETRS account should be your school email address.

Welcome to LETRS®! The New Mexico Public Education Department and the Lexia LETRS® Team would like to thank you for your dedication to our students. You are about to embark on an awesome journey of personal and professional development with LETRS.
Upon your first login to the LETRS platform, you are required to change your password.
Once you've changed your password, watch the short videos in the Introduction section.
After completing the Introduction section, you will advance to the Volume 1 Pretest, which will assess your current understanding of the systems of the English language. The purpose of this is to establish a baseline of what you know before instruction. You are not expected to excel on this pretest, and please don’t feel you should look up information. Please set aside approximately 30 minutes as the pre-test must be completed in a single sitting.
Following the pretest, you'll see the session numbers and titles for Unit 1. The course is "gated," meaning that current content must be completed before new content will become available. Ideally, you will complete the online content for the particular Unit and Part prior to your facilitated session so that you will have the background knowledge and familiarity with the concepts that your facilitator will be discussing.
As you may know, all New Mexico elementary school educators are required to complete professional development in the Science of Reading and Structured Literacy. (See NMAC 6.30.17.11)
The New Mexico Public Education Department has agreed to provide Language Essentials for Teachers of Reading and Spelling (LETRS) training to NM elementary educators so that they may fulfill the requirements of NMAC 6.30.17.11, improving literacy outcomes for students throughout the state.
LETRS Participants must complete all three components of the course:
Attend facilitated sessions
Complete online coursework--including Bridge-to-Practice activities
Read the LETRS manuals
All New Mexico elementary school educators must score a minimum of 70% on both the Volume 1 and Volume 2 posttests to be considered in compliance with NMAC 6.30.17.11.
Only elementary school educators who have documentation for completing the 3rd Edition of LETRS training or have a CALT or CALP certification are exempt from taking LETRS.
If you have a CALT or CALP certification or if you've already completed the 3rd Edition of LETRS training, please contact your LETRS course manager.
LETRS 3rd Edition is a two-year course.
There are eight units in the LETRS course of study. You will complete four units per school year.
You will attend approximately one facilitated session per month during the school year. Facilitated sessions are not scheduled during the summer months.
Once you've received your Cohort assignment, if you will be attending nationally facilitated sessions through Swoogo, you can view your Cohort's facilitated session schedule for the 2025-2026 school year on the Cohort Schedules page.
If you will be attended locally facilitated sessions, you will receive information about your Cohort's schedule from your local facilitator or your LETRS Course Manager.
Participants in Facilitator Cohorts are on an accelerated schedule. They will complete LETRS in one year instead of two.
You will participate in facilitated sessions for each unit to delve deeper into the content. The facilitated sessions for each unit are broken up into Part 1 and Part 2. Part 1 will cover the first half of the Unit, and Part 2 will cover the second half of the Unit. You may be in a cohort facilitated by a national LETRS facilitator or by a local district LETRS facilitator.
All nationally facilitated and most locally facilitated sessions meet virtually.
Attendance is mandatory for all parts of all units. Make-up sessions will be held throughout the year for participants who were unable to attend their assigned session. See the Make-Up Facilitated Sessions page for available sessions.
To qualify for a Reading Endorsement through the NMPED, a participant must:
Attend all live facilitated sessions each part of each unit (16 in total).
Score at least 80% on all end of unit assessments and volume assessments.
Log at least 32 hours completing online coursework in the LETRS platform.
