Find the oldest object within a close vicinity of you. Observe it, look at it for however long and from however many angles you deem appropriate. Does it show its age at all? Take a note of anything particularly interesting. Using your observations, come up with a backstory for the object, fictional or otherwise. What sorts of things did this object experience before ending up in your possession? Is this story fantastical or rooted in reality? Did it have a relatively normal existence, or does it have a comically tragic past? Write this backstory down.
A Quick Bio = i'm that girl who has a coconut for a head, i like drawing and giant robots, and i cry when i see really well done animation.
we can never again live in the past after it happens. while we may have memories of what has passed, time continues to march forward, and what once was ceases to exist, replaced by what now is, for always and eternity. even still, the past lives on. in memories, in souvenirs, in mementos. every missing brick in a decrepit, old factory, every stitch in a tattered stuffed animal left ignored for years, every dent and scrape in an heirloom passed down from generation to generation… each is a sign that the past has indeed happened, and while the experience itself may forever be lost to time, it manages to live on. in a way, objects like these are a bold statement of rebellion towards the all-consuming nature of time, saying that yes, we did happen. the memory may fade, but a story lives on.
