Purpose: exercise with introspection, creativity, and practice in letting things go both figuratively and literally.
Dig deep. Think of a secret you have, an introspection about yourself, or something that you needed to hear during a difficult period in your life.
While you’re thinking about your secret, or after you have figured it out, purchase an object that costs $5 or less. The object must be rigid (i.e. no clothing, pillows, soft toys). Try to be sure your object isn’t something that will look like trash if left in public. Aside from that, it can be anything.
Find a way to write your secret onto the object, either directly onto it or attached like a tag. The secret must be visible.
Search for a public place to leave your object/secret. This can be anywhere that is not your house, or the house of a friend or relative.
Leave your object in the place you have found.
Alternate Prompt:
Dig deep. Think of a secret you have, an introspection about yourself, or a thought you would like to move on from or forget.
Write your secret down onto a piece of paper.
Destroy your secret (i.e. burn it, bury it, tear it up, etc).
A Quick Bio = Hello, I'm Chynna, and I have a hard time coming up with things to say about myself.
I like thinking of art as an exorcism. Or like pulling something out of yourself, putting a name to it, and then placing it into the world. In therapy, I’ve worked on exploring my introspective tendencies in order to work some things out and find answers or reasons for Why Things Are The Way They Are. I thought it would be neat to combine art-as-exorcism with introspection in order to relinquish things that I no longer want to hold onto, or to put something into the world that I needed in the past with the idea being that whoever finds it might need it now.
