On 20 January 2026, Vishnupriya C, Archivist at Pattani Archives, participated as a speaker in the Workshop on Preventive Conservation of Photographic Materials organised by the Department of Museology, Maharaja Sayajirao University (MSU), Baroda, in collaboration with the International Council of Museums (ICOM) India.

Vishnupriya joined the workshop online and presented an overview of the photographic and archival collections held at Pattani Archives. Her presentation introduced participants to the cultural significance of family collections and the ongoing efforts to document and organise these materials. She also shared insights into the documentation and cataloguing processes being developed at the archive, highlighting how it helps in understanding the historical and contextual value of photographs.

The session also addressed practical challenges in preserving photographic materials, including storage conditions, photograph identification, and the need for careful handling of fragile prints. Vishnupriya discussed the preventive conservation measures currently being implemented at the Pattani Archives.

This workshop provided an important opportunity to engage with students, researchers, and museum professionals, and to share the work being carried out at Pattani Archives. It was also Vishnupriya’s first opportunity to represent Pattani Archives on such a significant platform, making it a meaningful contribution to the emerging conversations on archival documentation and photographic conservation in Gujarat.

20 જાન્યુઆરી 2026ના રોજ પટ્ટણી આર્કાઇવ્સની આર્કિવિસ્ટ વિષ્ણુપ્રિયા સીએ પટ્ટણી આર્કાઈવ્સ તરફથી પ્રવક્તા તરીકે ભાગ લીધો હતો. આ “પ્રીવેન્ટીવ કન્ઝર્વેશન ઑફ ફોટોગ્રાફિક મટીરીયલ્સ” વિષયક વર્કશોપ ડિપાર્ટમેન્ટ ઑફ મ્યુઝિયોલોજી, મહારાજા સયાજીરાવ યુનિવર્સિટી ઑફ બરોડા  દ્વારા ઇન્ટરનેશનલ કાઉન્સિલ ઑફ મ્યુઝિયમસ (ICOM) ઇન્ડિયાના સહયોગથી આયોજિત કરવામાં આવ્યો હતો.

વિશ્નુપ્રિયાએ વર્કશોપમાં ઓનલાઈન રીતે જોડાઈને પટ્ટણી આર્કાઇવ્સમાં સંગ્રહિત ફોટોગ્રાફિક અને આર્કાઇવલ કલેક્શન વિશે એક સર્વાંગી પરિચય રજૂ કર્યો. તેમની પ્રસ્તુતિએ ભાગ લેનારાઓને પરિવારિક સંગ્રહોના સાંસ્કૃતિક મહત્વ અને આ સામગ્રીને દસ્તાવેજીકરણ અને વ્યવસ્થિત બનાવવા માટે ચાલી રહેલા પ્રયત્નો વિશે માહિતગાર કર્યા. તેમણે આર્કાઇવમાં વિકસાવવામાં આવી રહેલી દસ્તાવેજીકરણ અને કેટાલોગિંગ પ્રક્રિયાઓ અંગે પણ માહિતી આપી, અને કેવી રીતે આ પ્રક્રિયાઓ ફોટોગ્રાફોના ઐતિહાસિક અને પરિસ્થિતિજન્ય મૂલ્યને સમજવામાં મદદ કરે છે તે ઉજાગર કર્યું.

તેમણે આર્કાઇવમાં વિકસાવવામાં આવી રહેલી ડોક્યુમેન્ટેશન અને કેટલોગિંગ પ્રક્રિયાઓ વિશે પણ માહિતી આપી અને સમજાવ્યું કે આ પ્રક્રિયાઓ ફોટોગ્રાફ્સના ઐતિહાસિક તથા પરિસ્થિતિજન્ય મહત્વને સમજવામાં કેવી રીતે મદદરૂપ બને છે.

સત્ર દરમિયાન ફોટોગ્રાફિક સામગ્રીના સંરક્ષણમાં આવતી કેટલાક વ્યવહારુ પડકારો પર પણ ચર્ચા કરવામાં આવી. તેમાં સંગ્રહ માટે યોગ્ય પરિસ્થિતિઓ જાળવવાની મુશ્કેલીઓ, ફોટોગ્રાફ્સની ઓળખ કરવાની સમસ્યાઓ અને નાજુક પ્રિન્ટ્સને સંભાળતી વખતે જરૂરી સાવચેતી જેવા મુદ્દાઓનો સમાવેશ થયો. વિષ્ણુપ્રિયાએ પટ્ટણી આર્કાઇવ્સમાં હાલ અમલમાં મુકવામાં આવતા પ્રિવેન્ટિવ કન્સર્વેશનના ઉપાયો વિશે પણ માહિતી આપી.

આ વર્કશોપ વિદ્યાર્થીઓ, સંશોધકો અને મ્યુઝિયમ ક્ષેત્રના વ્યાવસાયિકો સાથે સંવાદ સ્થાપિત કરવાની મહત્વપૂર્ણ તક સાબિત થઇ. સાથે જ, વિષ્ણુપ્રિયાએ આ પ્રકારના મંચ પર પ્રથમ વખત પટ્ટણી આર્કાઇવ્સનું પ્રતિનિધિત્વ કરવાની તક મળી, જે ગુજરાતમાં આર્કાઇવલ દસ્તાવેજીકરણ અને ફોટોગ્રાફિક સંરક્ષણ અંગે ઉદ્ભવતી ચર્ચાઓમાં એક મહત્વપૂર્ણ યોગદાન બની રહ્યું.
