Note to Parents:

This year in the Cosmetology training program, your son/daughter has an opportunity to be a member of SkillsUSA. This is a national student organization that teaches leadership and employability skills to help students succeed — both on the job and in life. Our theme for the 2024-25 year is SkillsUSA: Champions at Work. Our goal is that through involvement in SkillsUSA, students will develop personal, workplace and technical skills that will connect them to career success. They will become more employable, gaining a competitive advantage in the job market through SkillsUSA experiences.

I hope you will support participation of this activity by your child. Yearly membership dues for our SkillsUSA chapter are $16.00 They are payable by online payment, due on 9/1/25. These dues are required by the SkillsUSA organization and are paid to the national & state offices.

Active SkillsUSA members will have a chance to conduct a variety of professional development activities, including competitions that test their job skills against industry standards. There will also be opportunities to receive credentials that will enhance a job portfolio. Students who elect to participate in skill or leadership events are eligible to represent their school at the state or national level and to win industry awards and scholarships. Additional information about regional, state or national events will be sent home later, once we determine participation.
