Principles of Cosmetology TEKS
The following is what will be covered in class per each 6 weeks:
1st 6 weeks:
The student demonstrates knowledge of the rules and regulations established by the TDLR.
2nd 6 weeks:
The student demonstrates professional standards/employability skills as required by business and industry.
3rd 6 weeks:
The student analyzes career paths within the cosmetology industry.
4th 6 weeks:
The student applies academic skills to the field of cosmetology design and color theory.
5th 6 weeks:
The student demonstrates proficiency in the use of tools, equipment, technologies, and materials used in color theory and elements of design in cosmetology.
6th 6 weeks:
The student applies the academic knowledge and practical skills to simulated and actual work situations.
*Lesson agenda and order of lessons may be changed by instructor or administration. In addition, the Instructor and CTHS Administration reserve the right to make any necessary changes to the syllabus as needed or required throughout the year.*
There will be many times where you, the student, will be working on yourself, a partner, model, client or mannequin for a project, lesson or workshop. You will be informed with time so that you are prepared to participate and receive 20 daily points for your grade and TDLR credit hours.
If you are unable to participate, a written note from a parent/guardian must be submitted the day of the lesson.
If no note is present, student must participate in the lesson’s activity to receive a full grade and avoid a deduction of 20 points.
If points are deducted due to lack of participation as stated above, points are not recoverable.

Other trips and events will be announced as they are approved and scheduled throughout the school year.
Fundraising for field trips will be done through salon days.
Student must be passing all classes with a 75 or above to attend and must be in proper dress code. 9th graders are invited to the 10th grade field trips if they are in the monthly 100 club! To be in the 100 club, students must obtain a 100 average for the previous 6 weeks.
