CTHS Salon Internship Program- The CTHS Salon Program offers enrolled students an opportunity to train as an intern during salon days. Each grade level has its own salon days scheduled throughout the year. To participate in salon days you must meet the requirements, clock in, wear scrubs, and have an appointment book present with clients scheduled. If a student is scheduled as a salon assistant, they must work that position for the required time. There are rules to be followed by all participants, please be aware of this information. Signatures/stamps for the task cards must be obtained at the end of each service or work shift.
Salon Day Rules- These rules are put in place to ensure the student's success and to mimic a salon workplace environment. The rules must be followed at all times. Please understand that it is a privilege to be a student intern for the CTHS Cosmetology Salon Program.
Internship: An internship is a temporary, often short-term, work experience designed to provide practical knowledge and skills in a specific field or industry, for students. It's a learning opportunity where individuals gain real-world experience, build their network, and potentially discover if a career path is a good fit.
Task Cards- A task card must be completed to receive a certificate for the course. The boxes on the task card contain services the students learn in class. Students then put into practice what they have learned during the salon days. After each service is performed, an Instructor's signature or stamp must be obtained to confirm the skill has been completed successfully. Signatures & stamps will not be given outside of salon day hours. These services must be performed on clients during scheduled salon days. Late signatures will not be entertained.
Salon Day Events- Salon day flyers with a menu of available services are posted here, on campus CTHS social media, in Canvas and shared via email. They can be edited by student interns as needed in Canvas.
Specialty Salon Day Events- These events are created to offer lesson-specific experiences for students to practice the skills learned in class.
