community through unique educational experiences.
Ms. Ramirez's Mission Statement
I strive to ignite the passion that drives my student's ambition.
Attendance:
The attendance policy of this class mirrors that of the PISD and CTHS student handbook. When a student is absent, the opportunity to make up the missed lesson will be during a Wednesday after school tutorial (2:45-4pm) or the daily Reboot class period (9:40-10:05am) An appointment must be made through the Enriching Students site. Per TDLR law, each school day is worth 20 points equaling a 100 for a week of 5 school days. 20 points will be deducted from a student’s grade if absent from the day’s instruction. To regain those full 20 points, the student must sign up for tutorials to obtain the missed theory and/or complete the hands-on practical work within the current 6 weeks grading period. After that 6 week grading cycle has passed, TDLR credit hours may not be regained and student is not eligible to receive full TDLR Cosmetology credit hours needed for licensure their Senior year of school. Excessive absences potentially result in students not obtaining their Cosmetology License.
Course Assessment Plan:
Performance standards are determined by the industry, Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation and the CTHS Instructors. Rating for the scores reflect the standard grade and description as follows:
A - (90 – 100%)
B - (80 – 89%)

D - (60 – 69%)
F - (50 – 59%)

For TDLR Cosmetology credit hours, a 75 or higher is required of the student to pass each 6 weeks and earn their TDLR Cosmetology hours.

Summative Assessments: Weekly Task Cards consisting of written or practical tests, 6 weeks & semester exams, labs or workshops, professionalism grades, and daily attendance and participation. 60%
Professionalism Grade: infractions are worth 5 points each. Each student begins with a 100 and reduces by five as infractions occur. At the beginning of each 6th week, the grade starts back up at 100. Late assignments are welcome with five points off each day they are late including weekends. Absent students have the number of missed days to turn in missed assignments with no penalty. Students that sleep in class get 20 points deducted for that day since they missed instruction.
