At Parkfield, we use our P.E. curriculum to not only promote a love of sport but to also provide our pupils to opportunity to:
Engage in a variety of sports, clubs and sporting events that might not be available outside of school
Develop an appreciation of dance by exploring a broad range of dance styles
Experience sports that aren't available within a primary school setting by visiting local secondary school
Experience healthy competition by taking part in sport events both within the school and within the local community
Understand how to lead a healthy and active lifestyle
So that the pupils can experience a wide range of sports, we use planning from The P.E. Hub. In Key Stage 1 we use this planning to build on skills that they will need within team sports. Once children enter Key Stage 2 they will begin to apply these learnt skills within sport focused lessons. These sports include:
Football
Hockey
Netball
Tag Rugby
Cricket
Basketball
Dance and gymnastics are also throughout Key Stage 1 and 2.
In Year 3 and 4 children will get the opportunity to attend swimming lessons at the local swimming pool.
We follow the curriculum on The P.E. Hub.
Each half term, we do an indoor and an outdoor sport.
For example, Gymnastics and Netball or Dancing and Cricket.
