Our School Curriculum

Intent

Our curriculum is designed for the Parkfield Community.  The majority of our children can speak more than one language - in fact they can speak over 50 languages between them! They are also proud to represent many cultural backgrounds.  Learning at Parkfield reflects this diversity - we value everyone's beliefs and experiences and continually learn from each other.

In order to give every child the best opportunities to retain and build on their learning, our curriculum is delivered through hands on experiences and engaging events.  We emphasise the importance of extending vocabulary and making connections between learning in different subjects.

Implementation

We are clear about the knowledge we want children to acquire, based on the requirements of the National Curriculum.  This knowledge is underpinned by essential skills which make the children successful learners.  Each half term we plan engaging topics. We make sure that learning will be relevant to each particular cohort of children.  We start from the experiences of each individual, looking to the immediate community and the wider world, making connections with what has been learnt before.  On these pages you will find more information about each subject area.  Follow this link to find out more about how our 'connected curriculum' brings the subjects together for the children.

Impact

When children leave Parkfield, our ambition is that they

• know that their experiences and talents are valued and are  proud to share them

• are curious about the world and respectful of the traditions, beliefs and ideas of others

• ​make informed choices and develop a sense of responsibility.
