MATHS
at Parkfield Primary School
at Parkfield Primary School
At Parkfield Primary School, we recognise the importance of maths and numeracy as a key life skill and aim to help our learners to acquire the understanding, knowledge, skills and interests that are relevant to present and future needs and life skills, by having a broad and balanced curriculum, which makes real links to maths wherever possible. We achieve this through:
the use of mathematical language at every opportunity
practical maths using equipment, following a concrete- pictorial- abstract approach
children seeing real- life applications of maths wherever possible
children learning how to solve problems and be able to explain, reason and generalise
ensuring that all children achieve success, whatever their ability
knowing our children, what their gaps are, and then tailoring the curriculum to that
celebrating expertise among children
Teachers use the White Rose Maths Hub Scheme of Work to plan for the progression of the National Curriculum .
