Workshop 2 Nice 2022

The 2nd ChemArch workshop was hosted by Université Cȏte D’Azur, Nice on 14 and 15 June 2022.
Project partners and networking
The workshop participants were invited to watch pre-recorded presentations from guest speakers before attending the workshop, the presentations focused on a variety of field sampling practices in different parts of the world.
Representatives from several Project Partners were in attendance at the workshop including:

The presence of the Project Partners at the meeting enabled further networking and research discussion opportunities for the Early Stage Researchers (ESRs) and Supervisors involved in the ChemArch project.
Talks and knowledge sharing
A round-table discussion was held (with the pre-recorded presenters attending online) to enable questions to be asked and knowledge to be shared around fieldwork practices in different countries.
As with the first ChemArch workshop, the meeting was held in hybrid format to enable as many project partners and supervisors as possible to participate.

Visits
The participants were able to visit a local archaeological site, Lazaret du Grotte and learn about the significance of the cave and also view some artefacts recovered from the site.
The group was also able to visit the laboratories of Cultures et Environement, Préhistoire, Antiquité, Moyen Ȃge (CEPAM) at the Université Cȏte D’Azur.
Poster presentations
The ESRs presented a poster on their individual research project with progress to date, they were able to discuss findings with project partners and gain some valuable feedback on their project plans .
Outreach planning
Outreach planning sessions were delivered by Professor Jacqui Mulville (Guerilla Archaeology) who introduced the ESRs to outreach, its importance and the different forms of outreach available. The ESRs began planning the activities they will undertake in 2023 to meet the Science festival outreach report deliverable.
Dr Aimeé Little introduced the ESRs to Vodcasts which are another deliverable they will be completing in 2023/2024.
The workshop concluded with a session recapping the two days and highlighting the next steps for the ESRs and the management of the ChemArch project.
