Week beginning - Monday 24th November 2025
Take a peek at all the amazing things we've been learning this week!Â
This week Year 3 have begun their Christmas preparations in anticipation of the Paddock Wood Christmas Tree arriving. We are nearing the end of our story "Escape from Pompeii". We have paused our reading near the end and this week children have been using their writing skills to create their own version of the ending, before finding out the story version, (spoiler - Mount Vesuvius still erupts in all of them). As well as being tasked with creating an imaginative ending, children were also looking to include inverted commas in their writing, to show dialogue between the characters; extended adverbials, to create detailed descriptions of the city and it's destruction and fronted adverbials to provide extra information on the action taking place.

This week Ivan has put a huge effort into writing a narrative about a volcano. Ivan worked hard to improve his presentation, use paragraphs to organise his ideas, use onomatopoeia, and use direct speech in his work. Stunning work Ivan!

Evie has demonstrated a fantastic stamina in her learning this week. She has engaged in all her lessons, contributing ideas to discussions and being a risk taker too. We are very proud of the focus you have shown and because of it you have produced a pleasing amount of work Evie. Well done and keep it up!

This term Vicente has added lots of interesting facts to our class discussions around natural disasters showing how knowledgeable he is from all his reading at home. This week Vicente created a wonderful ending to our story "Escape from Pompeii", which included dialogue, extended noun phrases and fronted adverbials. Great work!
