What a fantastic and packed week it has been in Year 2! Our classrooms have been buzzing with creativity and thoughtful discussion as we juggle our learning and production rehearsals. In Inquiry this week, we have been focusing on diary entries! We have explored different examples and discussed the key features that make a great personal recount. We looked at how authors use an informal, personal voice, include details about their feelings, and organise events chronologically. The children have done a brilliant job identifying these features, and this work is preparing us perfectly for next week, when we will begin writing our very own, imaginative diary entries from the point of view of significant individuals from history. Our Inquiry work has also taken us on a journey to discover more about the incredible impact of significant people. We have looked at individuals who have made a difference both locally and globally, and, most importantly, discussed how their actions continue to shape the world we live in today. The children have shown great curiosity, asking insightful questions about how these heroes changed things and the lasting mark they have left. This has led to some wonderful class discussions about courage, perseverance, and making a positive change. The festive spirit is truly starting to shine in Year 2 as we have been throwing ourselves into the Christmas production! The excitement is building, and all the children are working incredibly hard to learn their lines, songs, and stage directions. This week, the fun didn’t stop at rehearsing; we have also started the creative process of building sets and making props. It's wonderful to see the children using their teamwork and design skills to help bring the show to life. We can't wait for you to see the finished performance!
