Week beginning - Monday 17th November 2025
Take a peek at all the amazing things we've been learning this week!
This week we have launched our new maths topic by reading 'The Perfect fit' by Naomi and James Jones. This introduced the concept of shape. We have focused our learning on circles and triangles. We started the week by investigating ways to make triangles and circles. Then we sorted them and used key vocabulary to describe how we did this. We used words like 2D shape, curved, corner, flat, sides and straight to describe their properties.
In our inquiry lessons the children learnt about Diwali celebrations. We were incredibly lucky to find out through 'first hand' experiences what it would be like to take part in Diwali celebrations. As part of our Expressive Arts and Design focus we designed and made diva lamps. We learnt how to safely use and explore a variety of tools and techniques, experimenting with texture. The children should be very proud of their outcomes as they have worked incredibly hard to follow their plans carefully.
During our phonics lessons we have learnt the sounds o and u. We have reinforced the tricky words the, I and a. We have then introduced and, this and it. Please encourage your children to learn these words by sight. If you practice these words little and often the children will find them easier to learn. We really do appreciate all of the extra support you give your children with their learning at home.

Janelle has become more ambitious in lessons this week. She has been trying harder to put her hand up during carpet time. It's been lovely to hear her communicating her thoughts and answers to questions. She has been particularly inspiring during Maths lessons where she has to concentrate more. Well done Janelle!

Arlo has truly shone this week as an Inquirer with his magnificent enthusiasm for the Nativity! He is so excited to play his character, showing admirable commitment. We are thrilled to see him branching out his interests and embracing this new, creative challenge.

Jordan has shown real resillance this week. He is becoming more familiar with the routine and trying to express himself. He has worked really hard on following instructions. I am so proud of the progress you have made. Well done Jordan!
