Week beginning - Monday 24th November 2025
Take a peek at all the amazing things we've been learning this week!
It was a pleasure to meet you properly and to discuss your child’s progress during our Parents’ Evening this week. Thank you to everyone who attended; we truly value the opportunity to work in partnership with you.
We have had a wonderful and productive week in Year One. The children have been fully engaged in their learning, making meaningful links to our central idea. They have applied their scientific knowledge to explore a variety of materials, investigated our school environment with curiosity, identified different materials in real-life contexts, and even created their own independent maps of the school with great care.
In Phonics, we have focused on ce/ci/cy, which makes the /s/ sound as in cylinder and city, as well as the ir sound found in shirt and girl. A list of our common exceptions (or tricky) words can also be found in the children’s reading records, should you wish to practise these at home.
In Maths, we have been learning about 2D and 3D shapes while continuing to strengthen our number formation, addition, and subtraction skills within 0–10.
We are also very excited to continue practising for our Christmas performance next week—the children are already showing such enthusiasm and confidence.
Thank you, as always, for your continued support.

What a wonderful inquirer and thinker you have been this week. You applied so much of your knowledge when exploring the variety of materials used around our school environment and could record this proudly in your book with neat handwriting.

For being a fantastic communicator and a great risk-taker this week. During our christmas performance practice, you have said your lines confidently and clearly. I cannot wait to see you shine on stage on the day. Keep up the wonderful work.

You have been an incredible risk taker this week. It has been lovely to see your confidence grow and see you participating more in class discussions with your fantastic ideas. Well done Tilly!
