Cub Scouting is an extracurricular program for children in grades K-5, which aims to build character, citizenship, leadership, and physical fitness. Unlike other youth activities, scouting gives you access to a whole array of different activities - we play games and sports, explore STEM concepts, build and craft, engage our curiosity, and learn a lot of different ways to serve our community!Â
A Cub Scout Pack is made up of scouts and leaders across grades, and is split into Dens of children in the same grade. Cub Scouts will meet to do some activities as just a Den (usually 1-3 times a month) and other activities as a whole Pack (usually once a month). This structure ensures that children get experience participating with other scouts of all ages, as well as get to participate in activities that are specifically designed for their age group. It also means that the leaders are a *team* who support and guide our new volunteers. Nobody has to go it alone to figure out the Cub Scouting program!
A Cub Scout Pack belongs to a District (which is in turn a part of a Council) which helps by providing our scouts with additional resources and activities.
Every year, scouts complete Adventures in order to earn their Rank for the year. Each adventure earns a reward, and earning their rank earns a new patch for their uniform. Every year scouts will explore adventures that cover character, the outdoors, fitness, citizenship, personal safety/first aid, and learning more about their family's faith/morals/values, as well as elective adventures that help our scouts explore different fun topics!
The chart below shows the adventures that scouts complete at each level to earn their rank:
