Year 5 Aspirations Update – Broadening Horizons
At OVPA, we are passionate about enriching our pupils’ cultural capital and helping them see the possibilities their future holds. Cultural capital—knowledge, skills, and experiences gained beyond the classroom—is a key focus of our career aspirations programme.
Over the past eight weeks, Year 5 pupils have taken part in an inspiring Aspirations Workshop led by the Education Futures Trust. This exciting programme introduced them to a range of roles within the healthcare sector, including doctors, nurses, paramedics, and social workers. Pupils met these professionals in person, learning about their career journeys, education paths, and the real-life skills needed for each role. The workshop series culminated in a celebratory assembly where pupils confidently shared their learning with parents.
In addition, Year 5 had the opportunity to meet a cyber security expert and a local artist, offering further insight into diverse career paths and the importance of creativity and digital safety in the modern world.
By engaging with professionals and exploring different industries, our pupils are beginning to see how education connects to real-life opportunities. We are proud to support them in building ambition, resilience, and a deeper understanding of the world around them.
