On 10th June, our two chess teams travelled to Windlesham House to compete in the prestigious County Finals.
It was an intense and exciting day, facing off against top players from across the region — including private schools and competitors who represent England and their counties.
The standard was exceptionally high, but our teams rose to the challenge with determination and focus. We proudly came away with an impressive 4.5 points.
Although we didn’t take home the trophy this time, every player was a winner. They’ve come so far, showing incredible progress, dedication, and sportsmanship throughout the competition.
Chess plays a vital role in developing critical thinking, concentration, and strategic planning—skills that benefit pupils across all areas of study.
Chess will continue in the new academic year, and I’ll be welcoming new players as we prepare for the County Championships, local events, and a full calendar of exciting tournaments.
