Wow where did that year go!.... We have been so busy with all our topics and exciting events from treat days, sports day, Easter Egg hunts and a visit from Santa's cheeky elves, as well as some of us meeting our new teachers, to name but a few, that we didn't even notice the time going by! As well as a celebration of all that we have achieved, this time of year is also a mix of emotions as we say 'Goodbye' to our older Turtles and wave them off to Reception as they continue their school journey, where we know they will be 'Turtle-y Awesome!'
Our little Turtles have all been building on their independence in our daily routines in order to build their confidence. This has been demonstrated beautifully when paddling and 'swimming' in the water, (well we are Turtles after all!) as once we had finished it was time to dry off and put our shoes back on, sometimes we ended up with shoes on the wrong fee,t but we tried and our little friends were on hand to help us out. Throughout the year our friendships have grown and we are beginning to solve conflicts without adult support by explaining what we would like to do: "I will be Superman first, then you ........ Ok?" "Ok then, but in a minute, then my go" and sharing experiences has helped us do this. Our 'Talk4Writing' story was 'Going on a Bear Hunt' by Michael Rosen and we really loved performing the actions, especially when we had to run away from the bear, but true to form we didn't leave anyone behind, making sure we all got away together!
As one of our prime areas we continue to develop our communication and language skills by sharing experiences with our friends and talking in full sentences as much as possible. We practised this when talking about how we come to school as part of our 'Where do we live?' topic; many Turtles came in a car although one said she came on a bus, only to be told 'No you don't, you come in your mum's car!' Our imagination certainly was tested because one of our little Turtles insisted they came to school on a unicorn! This was met with many open mouths and gasps of 'WOW!' and suddenly we all travelled to school in the most marvellous ways possible!
So from Turtle class we wish you all the most amazing Summer in whatever you do, recharged and ready for the next academic year.
Happy Summer Holidays everyone.
