As the school year draws to a close, it's a perfect time to reflect on the outstanding opportunities we've provided our pupils at OVPA. Our commitment is to deliver a broad and balanced education that nurtures every child.
This year, our passion for the arts truly shone, highlighted by our theatre trip to see 'Matilda the Musical'. The children's faces lit up with wonder as they watched the talented cast, and it was a joy to add this experience to our extensive arts program. We've already secured tickets for next year's visit to London to see 'The Lion King'.
We also introduced a new cultural event: a delightful day at the Congress Theatre where our pupils had the privilege of seeing the London Philharmonic Orchestra perform the incredible music of Stravinsky, a true giant of 20th-century composition.
This year, we were proud to launch our Year 5 careers program in close collaboration with The Education Futures Trust. Each week, pupils met inspiring visitors from the Health and Social Care sector, including doctors, health visitors, paramedics, and leaders in inclusion and diversity. The children thoroughly enjoyed asking insightful questions about their guests' roles and daily experiences, gaining valuable perspectives for their own futures.
Saying goodbye to our Year 6 pupils is always emotional, but we know they are more than ready for their next adventure. With fabulous SATs outcomes, achieving above the national average, and equipped with a wealth of knowledge, skills, and talent, our children are exceptionally well-prepared for the next stage of their educational journey and beyond. We couldn't be prouder of this Year 6 cohort and all they've accomplished. They are a true credit to our school, and we wish them all the very best.
Thank you, as always, for your ongoing support and for partnering with us to help your child achieve great things. We wish you a wonderful and well-deserved summer break.
Mrs. Campbell
It has been a fantastic year for all of our children and every single one has had success during the year!
Sports Day is one of my favourite events of the year and this year was no exception. Despite the windy and chilling conditions the children all did themselves proud. We continue to have fantastic athletes who show their determination to win and their resilience when they didn't finish where they wanted to. There was some fantastic sportsmanship on display that was a pleasure to see.
We have some amazingly talented children at OVPA and their talents are spread across so many skills. This term alone we have seen fantastic acting from our Year 6 children in their end of school performance; determined chess masters competing against other schools and of course not forgetting all our super sports stars who represented the school at Town Sports!
Our Year 6s didn't disappoint with their brilliant performance of Pirates of the Curry Bean. This will be a memory that the children will not forget for the rest of their lives (nor will the adults)! Putting on a show doesn't happen overnight, so thank you to Mr Ferrandino, Ms Bazell, Mrs Broomfield and Mrs Roberts for all of the extra things you did to put this show on and support the children.
Town Sports is a big opportunity for some of our children to represent the school. This year was no different and our children were perfect ambassadors for the school. They came back with lots of medals and memories that will stay with them for a long time.
I wish all our Year 6 children the best of luck for the future and welcome all our new Reception children who start their school journey with us.
I hope that you all have a fantastic summer break and the sun continues to shine! I look forward to seeing everyone again in September.
Mr Paramor
Dear all
This will be my second full year as Chair of Governors of this terrific school, but the key point to this is that I have got to know our Y6 leavers very well over this time and am extremely proud of their achievements.
This year's SATs results are amongst the school's best over recent years and each and every single student should celebrate their success as they look forward to the next chapter of their academic careers. A huge thanks to the parents and carers for entrusting your children to us, and a massive applause to the Y6 teachers and all those who have prepared them during their time at OVPA.
Our lives are filled with tests of one kind or another and school helps to prepare us for this. Tests do not always come in the form of exams. The early years at school help to develop resilience, a breadth of knowledge beyond the classroom subjects, cooperation, respect for each other and all that is around you as well as empathy. These are all areas central to this school's vision and values and the skills learnt will prepare you for many tests and challenges that lie ahead.
For those leaving us, these will stay with you forever, and for those returning in September you will continue to enjoy the learning - don't forget that you become the role models to those that follow!
To all our students, parents, carers and the entire OVPA faculty, I know that you will all be invigorated by our leavers' success and the prospect of a successful year ahead, but in the meantime I, and my fellow governors, wish you all a very relaxing, safe and much deserved break over the summer.
In a final message to our Y6, look back with pride and more importantly look forward with belief and excitement.
