KS2 Standard Attainment Tests (SATs)
Throughout the whole year, all the children in Year 6 have worked really hard in furthering their learning. We are very proud as a school that as a collective the children have achieved above the national average in both the combined measure of Reading, Writing and Maths and in the individual subjects, the children matched or bettered the national average. This aside, we are even more proud of every single one of our students this year as whatever score they achieved, we know that they have all made excellent progress in all areas of their learning and more importantly given their absolute all. WE ARE SO PROUD OF THEM ALL!!!!!
Pirates of the Curry Bean
The Year 6 children took part in an exciting production of Pirates of the Curry Bean. Throughout the rehearsals, they learned many new skills, including acting, singing, and working as a team. They practised their lines and songs diligently, gaining confidence in performing in front of an audience. The children also discovered the importance of listening carefully to the director and supporting each other on stage.
During the performance, they experienced what it feels like to be part of a real theatre production, complete with costumes, props, and lighting. Many children said they enjoyed expressing themselves creatively and felt proud of their achievements. The experience taught them about dedication, patience, and cooperation. Overall, the production was a fun and memorable opportunity that helped the Year 6 children build confidence and develop new talents. It also sparked a greater appreciation for drama and the arts.
Matilda
Some of our Year 6 children visited London to see the West End production of Matilda. They traveled by coach and arrived full of excitement.
The children were amazed by the impressive stage set and colourful costumes. Throughout the show, they laughed at the clever jokes and cheered for Matilda’s bravery. Many were fascinated by the special effects and the talented actors’ performances.
Everyone enjoyed a quick tea together before heading back to school. The trip was a memorable experience for all the children, inspiring a love of theatre and giving them a taste of London’s vibrant culture. They talked about their favourite scenes on the journey home.
Knockhatch
The children visited Knockhatch and spent the day enjoying the exciting water slides and drop slides. As soon as they arrived, they rushed to the water park area, eager to try the fastest slides first. They laughed and shouted with excitement as they zoomed down the slides, splashing into the pools below. Many children challenged each other to races, while others enjoyed the smaller slides more suited to their age. After a morning full of water fun, the group explored the animal area, Lost World and playgrounds. They were fascinated to see the lemurs swinging from branches and the prairie dogs popping out of their burrows. The children learned interesting facts about the animals and watched them closely. The visit to Knockhatch was a thrilling day full of laughter, adventure, and new discoveries.
Train safety trips
Earlier in the term, the children attended a train safety workshop that taught them important rules about travelling safely on trains. The workshop began at school, where our instructor explained how to behave on platforms and inside trains . The children learned about the dangers of standing too close to the edge and the importance of listening to announcements. After the safety talk, the group boarded a train from Ore to Eastbourne. During the journey, they practised safe behaviours, such as staying seated and keeping their belongings secure. They enjoyed looking out of the window and spotting different landmarks along the way. Upon arriving in Eastbourne, the children had a short break and completed a range of activities before returning to Ore. The workshop helped the children understand how to stay safe around trains and railways. Many said they felt more confident about travelling by train in the future thanks to the fun and educational experience.
