Last term I wrote about all the progress that we have seen our pupils make across the year, including those with SEND. The progress has been in Reading, Writing and maths but also in other important skills for life. These include communication skills, social skills, self-help skills, self-regulation, motor skills and more.
An important part of supporting children with SEND to make progress are Pupil Plans. These plans are led and written by Class Teachers. They take into account Parent and Pupil Views to ensure that we work in partnership to see success. Meaningful targets are set and are worked on in school and at home. Copies of these plans have been sent home so that you can see all that has been done, throughout the year, to keep your child on a journey to fulfil their potential. A new addition to the plans is the recording of SEN Targeted Classroom Support at the end of the plan. This details the key strategies that we are employing, on a daily basis in the classroom, to facilitate success for your child. I hope you find it helpful to have a copy of your child's plan. If you have any questions about the plans please make an appointment to see me. On that note, if there is anything else you are unsure about, or would like to discuss further, please make an appointment for an Inclusion Consultation with me or Mrs Foster.
I am excited to share that Miss Sheffield (Mrs Jenner) will be out of the classroom for three days a week next year, to develop her SEND Leadership role. We will be working together to develop our SEND provision further. We have already been thinking about new developments and we will be continuing with the WESEND Project into a second year. Miss Sheffield did a wonderful job of producing and upgrading our Transition Leaflets. The Transition Days went well and the leaflets supported the success of these days. Please remember to talk through the leaflets throughout the Summer Holiday. This will help with a successful transition to your child's next class in September. We wish all of our Y6 Leavers a smooth transition to secondary school and a successful Y7. All of their plans and records from their time in Primary School will be passed on when they start in September.
It only remains for me to thank you for all of your support throughout this past year and to wish you an enjoyable Summer Holiday.
