Students using their OUSD Chrome accounts do not have access to add extensions. Please request this extension through your teacher or case manager.
Click the OrbitNote extension on the upper right of the screen.
If you do not see the OrbitNote extension, click the jigsaw icon to open the Extensions window. Click the pin to "pin it" to the extensions bar.
If the icon is not available, please request this extension through your teacher or case manager.
Sign in with Google.
Choose your OUSD account.
Click Continue.
Check the Select all box. This will allow your annotated PDFs to work seamlessly with your Google account. Scroll down to the bottom.
Click Finish.
There are two ways to open PDFs using OrbitNote.
1.
Open a file from Google Drive in the OrtbitNote web dashboard.
Click the OrbitNote extension.
Click Open PDF from Google Drive.
or
2.
Open a PDF document in Google Drive, Classroom, or from a website. The file should automatically open using OrbitNote.
If the Preview window pops up, click Open with, then select OrbitNote.
Using OrbitNote and Read&Write in Google Drive
OUSD students have access to OrbitNote's free tools. The following section will cover some of the tools. When selected, the tool icon will turn red.
Click to Speak
Click a word anywhere on the page to have the text read.
Play
Click to play to have text read from top to bottom of the page.
Pause
Pauses reading using Click to Speak or Play tools.
Stop
Stops reading using Click to Speak or Play tools.
Highlighting
Highlight text and collect to open in a Google Doc.

There is no undo on most tools except the Freehand Drawing tool.
Have a PDF scanned ahead of time.
