PDFs or photo files (.jpeg, .png and .gif) can be converted.
Documents must be right-side up. If your image faces the wrong way, rotate it before you upload it to Google Drive.
Common fonts, such as Arial or Times New Roman are recognized easily.
Image quality: Use sharp images with even lighting and clear contrasts.
OCR works best with clean, clearly printed materials.
OCR doesn't work well with letters that are:
fancy
angled
handwritten
colorful
Open Google Drive.
Right click a file.
Click Open with Google Docs.
The image file is converted, but the format might not transfer:
Bold, italics, font size, font type, and line breaks are likely to be retained.
Lists, tables, columns, footnotes, and endnotes are not likely to be detected.
Tap the camera icon.
Tap Scan text.
The scanned text will show up in the text field.
Tap the Live Text button on the bottom right to select parts of the text.
Touch and drag your finger to select text.
Tap insert to close the scan window.
