MARKING PERIOD 1
In this assignment, we were given word problems and were expected identify the application of forces, this consisted of things like calculating the angle of an inclined, force exerted by an incline, tension, horizontal, diagonal, vertical force, etc. This assignment challenged me because it consistent of word problem that not only was I not familiar with but also had no practice. These problems were not my strengths. Therefore, when I had to apply equations to this problem to solve the actual problem. It became extremely difficult. With some help and clarifications from my peers I was able to understand what the problem was asking for and how to solve for it.
This is an assignment that I am not very proud of. This is one of the first assignment and was not able to understand the introduction part of this lesson. Because I didn't ask for help with the introducing and decided to remain in silence, this would lead to future problems. I would still see vectors in future assignments and because I didn't seek any help this would lead to me struggling on multiple occasions. I hope in the future to feel more confidence and bold and ask for help rather than just staying in silence.
MARKING PERIOD 2
For this assignment students were expected to to read a journal article which explains why ice is slippery. After reading the article, these students were expected to write a well written report on the article. This is an assignment that I would say I am proud of because the reading is definetly more advanced, however I was still able to obtain valuable information to complete the report. A template was provided, and students had to complete every section and explain in detain why it's so important.
This is an assignment that I am proud of. Being able to successfully complete this assignment demonstrates that I have the ability to work with others and cooperate with each other in a lab in order to collect valuable data that will be necessary to complete our lab. Part of the reason, I am proud of this assignment because it involves something that I exceed on, organization. I am able to clearly present my information and ideas in an organized paper.
MARKING PERIOD 3
An assignment that I am proud of would probably be: PHYS 111 Lab Report. The objective of this lab is to determine the friction of everyday objects on an inclined plane. In the lab report I was able to go deeper into explaining and communicating the breakthroughs of the experiment. Because I was able to easily do this, this meant that I had a clear understanding on how the data recorded related back to the objective of the lab.
Although, we have done multiple journal articles in the past I wouldn't say that I am proud with this assignment. I say this because I wasn't very well informed about what was going on in the article that students were expected to read. There were many calculations done all throughout the journal article, that were advanced and were difficult to understand. In honor of black history month, students were expected to read Katherine Johnson's journal article, which consist of all the calculations that she used in order to successfully be able to launch a rocket to the moon.
MARKING PERIOD 4
This is an assignment that I am extremely proud of because of how quickly I was able to comprehend the topic. In physics, there have been multiple times where I don't know what is going on. For me to be able to quickly pick up a topic is a very proud and memorable moment for me. Students were introduces to equations about momentum and impulse. With an in class activity students has to take calculation, this way this ensures that students are able to practice these equations.
For this assignment students were expected to work in groups, and had to set up a lab that will help them collect data on spring mass. This proves that I have the ability to with with classmates, be a leader, make sure things are running smoothly, and am able to collect valuable pieces of data. In addition, this shows that I am able to organize every data collected in an organized table.
