MARKING PERIOD 1
This is an assignment that I am proud on, not only because I got a good grade on it but, also because through the essay I was able to demonstrate a full comprehension on the given prompt and develop further with a claim, evidence, and explanation. The prompt stated that with the documents given, students were expected to analyze the relationship between gender and politics in twentieth-century Latin America.
For this Unit, students were given a list of vocabulary words and were expected to familiarize themselves with the words in order to have a clear understanding of the new topic that we would be learning. To demonstrate our understanding students were assigned to create a story with at least 10 of the vocabulary words. Not only was our story suppose to be fun and creative, it also had to make sense and accurate to their definition. Based on the perfect score that I received doing this assignment, I was able to demonstrate that I am capable of meeting all the standards is a rubric.
Marking Period 2
Although this is an assignment that I got a good grade on. I still am quite disappointed in this assignment. Debates are something that struggle with. Although, I do good when it comes to doing research and collecting data...communicating with others and putting my thoughts into wording is something that I really struggle with. I hope that I am able to practice these skills and over the years improve. However, I will say that this assignment challenged me.
Marking Period 3
Just like in the first marking period. Students were given another set of vocabulary words that they were expected to familiarize themselves with. The components of this assignment was, with the vocabulary given, students had to use at least ten of those given words to create a story. I am proud of this assignment because I was able to create a story that readers felt was engaging and creative. The end of the story was appropriate to the beginning of the story and leaves readers satisfied. I was able to use figurative language, almost no grammar or spelling mistakes, and the terms were accurate to the definition of the terms. My story is about a women who is part of the women's suffrage movement, where many women fight for the right for women to vote in elections. I had to make sure that the rest of the words related to. There were many connections that relate back to historical and important periods in history.
Marking Period 4
Throughout the year, students were assigned many Q & A assignments. For this assignment, students were expected to read a the Communist Manifesto document, which was written to express the core platform of communism. For a quiz grade, students were expected to answer given questions on a seperate document that is based on the reading. This assignment is important, because it demonstrate that I am able to gather and differentiate information and determine weather or not it answers a question. By answering the questions, I had to consistently look back at the document, and by rereading every time I was able to familiarize myself with all the information given and got a clear understanding of the topic.
