As you begin your consideration of potential career pathways and higher education options over years 11 to 13, there will be many pieces of information that are presented to you as "important" in helping you to consider your options and to prepare yourself for higher education once you finish at Island School. In Year 11 you may want to consider:
Summer programmes
Making the most of your CAS experiences
Choosing your year 12 and 13 subjects with a view to university and higher education options
Work experience
Campus visits
In particular, the summer and other school holidays and breaks are great times to expand your horizons and develop your skills and interests. In this section we will describe some of those opportunities, which you may want to consider and incorporate into your holidays at some point in the next three years.
Why do work experience?
For some courses, such as medicine and veterinary science, work experience is an essential prerequisite to an application for these courses. For others, work experience as a school student offers many benefits, including being able to explore potential areas of work and helps you consider courses of further and higher education study that help equip you for careers in those areas.

This may seem unnecessary now, but consider this – you may have up to 14 different jobs by the time you are 38! Will you remember all the great things you’ve done if you don’t keep it up to date?
