Pre-school

Pre-School students read the book, The Lion Inside, by Rachel Bright. The story is presented in a playful and accessible way, while also addressing themes such as courage, self-esteem, and the importance of recognizing one’s own value. Through the journey of the little mouse, the children were encouraged to reflect on their fears, the importance of expressing themselves, and to understand that everyone has special qualities.

A história é apresentada de forma lúdica e acessível, além de abordar temas como coragem, autoestima e a importância de reconhecer o próprio valor. Por meio da trajetória do pequeno rato, as crianças foram incentivadas a refletir sobre seus medos, a importância de se expressar e a perceber que todos têm qualidades especiais. 

Elementary School

Os alunos do 1st Grade leram o livro It Takes Two, de Karen Wallace. Em c1st Grade students read the book, It Takes Two, by Karen Wallace. In alignment with the work developed in the classroom, a book was chosen to explore the world of the animal kingdom, strengthening the connection between classroom and library activities. During the reading, various aspects of the animal world were addressed, presenting curiosities and information that expanded the children’s knowledge, while also reinforcing some concepts they were already familiar with. 

2nd Grade students read the book, The Most Magnificent Thing, by Ashley Spires. In support of the work carried out in the classroom, a book was selected to explore creativity, the development of ideas, and the importance of the creative process. The story follows a character who faces challenges while trying to build something she considers perfect, addressing in a sensitive way themes such as creativity, persistence, frustration, and problem-solving. Throughout the narrative, topics were explored in a way that were accessible for children, helping them understand and deal with feelings like frustration, as well as encouraging persistence and creativity. 

On April 2nd, we celebrated International Children’s Book Day, a date chosen in honor of Hans Christian Andersen’s birthday, the author of classics such as The Ugly Duckling and The Little Mermaid. To mark the occasion, 3rd Grade students learned about the writer’s life and, at the end, took part in a fun crossword puzzle featuring some of his most famous stories.

Another important celebration in April is Earth Day. To mark the occasion, 4th Grade students read, The Lorax, by Dr. Seuss and reflected on the importance of caring for our planet. They then created posters with messages promoting awareness and encouraging the preservation of the Earth, our home. These materials became part of a collaborative mural, further enriched by the participation of Middle School students, who contributed practical tips on actions we can all take to help protect the environment.
